The early Christians experienced the life and the power of the Spirit. What were the consequences of this?
A new courage and a new capacity to communicate, especially the love of God, filled them. That which had taken them out of themselves was the Spirit. They felt in themselves a new dynamism, a new life that changed them from a fearful group of more or less broken and depressed people into a community with a MISSION. "Go out to the whole world" (Mk 16:15).
They were empowered by love because the Spirit is love. This Spirit of love led them to renounce any other means of power, to live by the power of love only, even if this meant the handing over of one’s life.
Love is the only power of the Spirit and only love can be our power.
