European novices meet in Joigny

In early March we left a slightly warmer England for the cooler climate of Joigny, Burgundy, in France for a few days with St Madeleine Sophie Barat at her family home meeting with our other European novices.

Altogether there were: three novice directors: Mary Hinde ENW, Noelle Favet BFN and Dorota Stoklosa POL and six novices: Karen Connor, Siobhan Burke and Katie Colbran ENW, Sandra Delaveau BFN and Patricia Hevia Colomar (Spain) BFN, and Alicja Banach POL. It was a time of deepening our personal relationships with Sophie, discovering more about her spirituality and getting to know each other.

During our stay the resident community gave us a tour of the house with its history and also we visited the vineyard where the Barat family grew vines for making into wine. The community shared about the ministry of the house and their own personal experience of living there. We had a time of sharing our own call to the Society. There was also a great amount of fun and laughter in the evening with games, dancing, celebrating a birthday and welcoming a new Pope.
