Wearing many hats in Salisbury...
Sarum College is the main place where I work and there I wear a variety of hats. I am Pastoral Tutor to the students on the various MA Courses now available in the College. I attend many of the lectures and am about them while they are here for their intensive modules. Meals and breaks are particularly busy times as well as talking with individuals as required... Short Courses on Spirituality are arranged throughout the year, often with a practical as well as intellectual content. A core group, of four of us from the Spirituality Department, provides this programme with external help as required. Another hat I wear is that of Chaplain to Sarum College. A colleague of mine, when asked what I did, said Oh Mairead looks after anything that moves in this College - I think that describes it quite well! In addition, I am chaplain to the Southern Theological and Training Scheme (STETS), with groups of students regularly coming to the college for study. I also do spiritual direction and supervision, and lead some reflection days in the college and elsewhere. I have been part of a team of prayer guides in some weeks of guided prayer in local parishes, and help to run some individually guided retreats (IGRs) in different places. I have also helped with a Summer Club, for young children in the Woodford Valley - just for a week! It is very tiring but great fun and I am so glad to be working directly with the young even
I believe that Sophie would be happy with the work of her little Society in this place...

Here in Salisbury, although physically apart, I feel very much one with and part of the Province and of the Society. St Madeleine Sophies hat and letters are a good symbol of our Cor Unum. Letters, emails, telephone, meetings, Provincial communications and the web sites all help in this.
