Newcastle, Wingrove Road community - Barbara

the gardenI have lived in Newcastle now since summer 2008.

I work with a group of RSCJ in the Province on vocations promotion, and with two of them preparing and running weekends for women who are interested in exploring religious life. We base these on our own experience of life in the Society, and present such themes as the spirituality of the Heart of Jesus, community, internationality and the vows.

I also accompany women who are seriously interested in religious life in the Society, and continue to accompany them as candidates if they join us.

As part of the community ministry of hospitality, Sheila and I run a reflection group for young women once a month.

In addition, as a member of the community of St. Roberts parish, I am a reader, help on the Fair Trade stall once a month and hold the occasional Sharing Fair stall after the Masses in the parish. Doreen rscj ,from Cedar Rd and I are hoping to set up a daytime prayer group which will meet in Wingrove Rd.

I also belong to a community choir, Fenharmonics  which meets each week in the church meeting room.

I am a member of Sharing Fair Europe, a Cooperative set up in the North East to market the craft work of women in developing countries.
