RIP KLARA (CLARY) BETZLER RSCJ
During the afternoon of Christmas Eve God called Clary to the fullness of life, only a month before her 100th birthday and after 75 years in the Society.

Born in Cologne, Germany, in 1915, Clary came to England as a young woman. She entered the Society at Roehampton in spring 1939 and became a novice just before War was declared. Despite her German nationality she was able to remain here all through the War; after making her First Vows in September 1941 she spent the next five years in Fenham, Newcastle. In 1946 she returned to Germany, where she made her final profession in 1948, and remained until 1951. She spent some time serving in The Netherlands, Majorca and Ireland, but the majority of her life was spent in England, teaching, working within the community and, in retirement, assisting the Provincial Archivist and the sister who produced our newsletter.

In 2002 she moved to Duchesne House where she was as active within the community as her increasing frailty would permit. Clary's death was swift and sudden, as she had been in reasonable health and we had expected her to celebrate her century. Instead, as the community gathered to celebrate the birth of Christ and the new life he brings to our world, Clary slowly and peacefully slipped into her own birth into new life with God.

A weekend of prayer, discussion, reflection, community... a time to ask questions, find out more... a time to be with others on a similar journey... An opportunity to find out more about the spirituality and mission of the Society of the Sacred Heart.

YEAR OF CONSECRATED LIFE
began on the first Sunday of Advent 2014 and continues until February 2nd 2016. It is an opportunity for renewal and re-invigoration and to celebrate and share our vocation in the Church and the world. Please pray for us and all religious during this special time.

SUPERIOR GENERAL'S VISIT
During the first nine days of December our Superior General, Sr Kathy Conan RSCJ, visited the Province of England-Wales, accompanied by Hiroko Okui RSCJ, one of her Councillors. During their time here they visited several communities, schools and projects, and met some of the people with whom we work. There was also an Assembly with all the Province gathered in Roehampton: at the end of this we missioned Teresa Ryden RSCJ to her new mission in Indonesia, and Yukiko Aoki RSCJ back to Japan.

ANNIVERSARIES & JUBILEES
Throughout the year several RSCJ from this Province will celebrate significant anniversaries of the day they professed their vows.
