Oxford Community - Iris
"The Lord is my shepherd, there is nothing I shall want; he makes me rest in green pastures and leads me to streams of fresh water. He strengthens my soul, and leads me on the right path for love of his name." This psalm is part of my profile because I couldn't live if the Lord wasn't my Shepherd. He knows all my needs, cares for me with love and embraces me every day. In him I place my hopes and all my trust. I'm Iris, from Brazil, and I've been in the Society for 13 years. My apostolate has always been with children, but in 2013 until the beginning of this year I had the lovely experience of working with young people, and I learnt a lot form them. They never cease to surprise me with how they are. At this time, though, I am living in Oxford community, in a beautiful city with a lot of life. There's loveliness wherever we go. I arrived on the 25th March and the sisters (Marion, Margaret, Silvana and Yukiko) welcomed me with great love. This is my international experience. I'm learning English as preparation for probation (group preparation for final vows) which is due to begin on 20th September. This, for me, is becoming a different experience: I feel it isn't only about learning English, but about opening myself to a different culture, where I feel myself invited to observe, welcome, understand, love and give THANKS TO GOD. An experience where I am enriched by diversity and where "we are called to become one body in Christ", as it says in paragraph 156 of our Constitutions. I am grateful to the Province of Brazil for allowing me to have this experience and to the Province of ENW for having welcomed me. MUITO OBRIGADA!!!
