The World Was Dark

 

And how the world was dark and quiet
and how the quiet showed up the star,
and how the star marked the spot,
and how the spot was but a byre
and how the byre witnessed the birth,
and how the birth rejoiced the world
and how the world heard angels sing
and how the singing warmed all hearts
that sought the spot marked by a star.
